Islamic Marriage Ceremony
“And among His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy.” (Qur’an 30:21 – paraphrased translation)
This verse beautifully captures the purpose of nikah: sakinah (peace), mawaddah (love), and rahmah (mercy) between husband and wife.
Hadith highlight
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged marriage and spoke about its virtue. One well-known meaning from his teachings is that when a person marries, they have completed a significant part of their faith, so they should be mindful of Allah in the part that remains. (Meaning reported in various hadith collections.)
This shows that nikah is not only a social arrangement, but a path to strengthen one’s deen through patience, kindness, and responsibility within the family.
