Bicester Islamic Cultural Society
Bicester Islamic Cultural Society (BICS) exists to serve as a vibrant, faith‑led hub for Muslims in Bicester and to contribute positively to the wider society through worship, education, community service, and interfaith understanding.
Overall purpose
BICS aims to unlock the collective potential of the whole community for the benefit of humanity, with respect for all forms of life and the natural environment. It seeks to advance the Islamic faith in harmony with UK law by providing structured religious, educational, and social activities that support Muslims in living Islam in a practical, balanced way.
Worship and mosque development
- To establish and maintain a dedicated mosque in Bicester as a permanent place for daily prayers, Jumu’ah, Eid, Taraweeh, and other religious services. To take all legitimate and honourable steps, in full conformity with Islamic principles and UK charity law, to raise funds for the construction, expansion, and improvement of the mosque
Education and learning
- To provide structured Islamic educational programmes for adults, youth, and children, including Qur’an reading and memorisation, Tajweed, Hadith, Seerah, Aqeedah, Fiqh and Islamic ethics classes.
- To support Arabic language and Islamic studies for young people, developing their understanding of faith, identity, and citizenship within the British contextTo establish and maintain a library and learning resource centre containing books, journals, and digital materials on Qur’an, Sunnah, Islamic law, history, culture, and contemporary issues, accessible to both Muslims and non‑Muslims.
Community life and personal conduct
- To encourage members to observe the tenets of Islam in belief, worship, character, and dealings, and to support them in leading a life of a conscientious Muslim at home, work, and in public life.
- To foster unity, mutual respect, and brotherhood/sisterhood among Muslims of different ethnic, cultural, and national backgrounds, rejecting racism and sectarianism and promoting a shared Islamic identity.
- To offer pastoral care and support, and where possible to assist those in need through charitable initiatives, donations, and practical help in line with Islamic teachings on social justice and poverty relief.
Cohesion, dialogue and global links
- To build positive, long‑term relationships with local residents, schools, faith groups, public bodies, and charities, promoting understanding, cooperation, and social cohesion in Bicester and the surrounding area.
- To promote respectful dialogue and joint projects with non‑Muslim communities, helping to dispel misconceptions about Islam and demonstrating its values through open days, talks, visits, and community events.
- To nurture a sense of belonging to the global Muslim ummah by encouraging lawful, constructive links with Muslims from different countries and backgrounds, while remaining firmly rooted in and loyal to the local community.

The Quran reminds: “And whatever you have of favour – it is from Allah” and promises, “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.” Gratitude turns daily life into worship, strengthens faith, and fills the home and community with barakah.
